:: research + concept Work on the use of adaptive methods in information systems

Digital libraries and multimedia archives are turning into virtual information and knowledge environments where tasks are much more complex than just the acquisition, storage and management of a huge and divese collection of data/information. They should not only provide efficient access to digital collections and structured (multimedia) documents, but also enable the user to utilize, evaluate, develop and acquire knowledge according to the specific situation and their needs.

Based on these ideas, the project deals with the topics: libraries, adaptive methods, knowledge management and communities. What is the current situation of libraries and how are they going to develop? How can you break personalisation, adaptive methods and their use down into their component elements and develop useful services? How can you provide a platform to a community within an information system which faciliatates the generation, exchange and documentation of knowledge?

The result is the integration of the concept within information architecture and interface schematics - an experimental Work environment which combines the management of your personal data with research in different sources (library, WWW, communities...) and the exchange and evaluation of private, or public information. The system offers research, selection, storage and structuring of data as well as Working and publishing within one interface.
The interface is divided into personal, public and special interest group (community) areas. This provides orientation and enables the user to distinguish easily which of his or her personal data is subject to public access, and out of which source he or she acquired specific information (library, community) and who it was generated by.

This experimental interface is a conceptual frameWork that endeavours to stimulate and encourage thoughtful investigations and creative solutions to the challenges of managing, using, processing and generating knowledge in the digital information age.
